Peanut has written lots of stories lately....we have printed them and put them in a book. The younger children love to have her read her stories to them.

No comments:

The tea ceremony tray is still very popular.....

No comments:

Pictures of real things hold the children's interest better than illustrations.

Merlin loved the way Canada felt in his hands.....when I told him the puzzle knob was where Ottawa was he said "that's where my friend lives"

Sparkle made some insets....this is a pre-writing work, it promotes the hand control needed to form letters. For Sparkle it is just plain fun to make different coloured shapes.

Outdoor time today.....we have some new bowls and large spoons for our mud kitchen...

No comments:

We have some Henri Matisse prints on our wall and a poster of flags of the world. Peanut was inspired by the flag poster to make a flag booklet.

The children just love Flossy the toad.....great interest is taken outside each day finding just the right insects to feed to Flossy.

No comments:

In a mixed age classroom the children learn so much by watching an older child work.

No comments:

A little free play at the end of our final MYC music class of the year..... Thank you Mrs. Becca for your great classes all year, the children have so enjoyed your visits each week.

No comments:

Dressing frames provide the opportunity to work with buttons, zippers and snaps. These are great for developing fine motor skills, concentration and for learning very important self-help skills.

No comments:

We've been learning a little about the artist Henri Mattise. When Mattise was ill and couldn't stand to paint he began creating art using cutout painted paper. Tiger is making an artwork like Matisse.

No comments:

Tank is pretty little for the pink tower but he really enjoys it and gets so much joy out of building it. He stood up just after this threw his arms wide with a huge smile and just admired his work.

No comments:

After setting up his work space to make a continent book, Tiger chose a continent, then fetched the correct colour pencil and then traced Europe....lots of movement is so important for young children.

No comments:

Busy children this morning....Tiger was cleaning a mirror, Princess was practicing her letters on the chalkboard, Merlin was watching Peanut wash the floor and Tank was enjoying the miniture cylinder blocks.

No comments:

Sparkle busy with a cylinder block and knobless cylinders.

No comments:

Introducing "Flossy" if you look closely you will see a little toad. Peanut made the habitat up for us and provided Flossy with a few worms to eat.

I know these are not frog spawn.....I think they are salamander eggs. We will bring them back to our classroom to raise.

About Tree House Daycare

Tree House Preschool Daycare was established in September 2007 to meet the needs of families looking for quality home care for their children. At Tree House we believe that childhood is a journey and not a race. The years under six are the most critical period for nurturing a child’s natural curiosity and for laying the foundation of all future development. Our curriculum includes hands-on learning in several areas, in an environment prepared to allow the children to freely choose their own activities. We also spend lots of time outdoors, playing and exploring the natural world. Early childhood is a very special time that should not be rushed. Each child should be allowed to grow and develop at their own pace. Treehouse Preschool Daycare provides a nurturing environment where children are secure and childhood is cherished.

About Me

Tree House Preschool Daycare
Huntsville, Ontario, Canada
Hi! I am Sharon, wife to a wonderful man for the past 30yrs and mother to 3 great kids. Our oldest children are grown and happily married and our youngest is an energetic and creative 8yr old. Education has been part of my life for the past 23yrs as I completely home-educated our older two children. In 2007 after becoming interested in Montessori education I began my 3-6 year old Montessori training which I completed in July 2010. Tree House Preschool Daycare was established in September 2007 and as we enter our seventh year I am excited to see how much we will all learn from each other this coming year.
