I managed to find some more realistic sea creatures for our water table at Dollar Giant...not the variety I was hoping for but better than the cartoon style from yesterday...

This is the background for the mural we painted during Art yesterday...today I have put some colouring pages of sea creatures on the art shelf for the kids to colour and add to the mural...

Making imprints of shells in playdoh....

New work...making suds with a sponge....

Wet-on-wet painting this afternoon

this is what our mural looked like at the end of preschool today.....I love the colours. Tree House is closed tomorrow so "Happy Canada Day" everyone!

Beach Week

I set up a water table with ocean animals....I'm not crazy about the cartoon style animals so I went out tonight and bought more realistic ocean creatures....the cartoon ones are heading outside to the pool tomorrow.......

I put the Trouble game on the math shelf this week...I thought it would help the kids with their number recognition and counting....they find the rules a little confusing but they enjoy popping the die, matching the colours, and counting to move the pieces.

Everyone joins in the game..

On the art shelf this week is this jelly fish craft tray...
I had no takers to help me bake today...the kids discovered the new markers I had bought and decided to draw instead of bake.

I hid some shiney stones in the sandbox so the kids could dig for buried treasure.....

We set up a boat for the kids to play in complete with a sail they can raise and lower...they loved it....!!!

adding just a little flour..

beginning to mix up the cookie dough..everyone takes a turn

This little dip in the yard is our famous "mud puddle" it is the most played with area....they drive diggers and trucks in it, fill it with water and float boats, use the mud as paint, make mud pies and lots of mud soup....it is a source of endless fun..

Our new Tree House friend came for a while this morning and had "Ants on a Stump" with us for morning snack.

Licking the bowl after we made cookies for handwork this morning. We are giving the cookies to our Dads for Father's Day!

Outside this morning....

A perfect day for swimming, waterplay and making garden soup....

feeling the water in the bird bath, it was so warm..

putting the cookies in our decorated bags.....and of course we had to try one each...

We don't do a lot of sugar at the Tree House but summer Friday afternoon ice-cream is a tradition.

Thursday is our cooking day....

Today we are making hummus for our lunch...we ate it with toasted whole wheat pitas, carrots, yellow pepper, tomatoes and broccoli....we had pears for dessert....it was really yummy

juicing the lemons...

We saw this Bobolink on the way to the marsh...he sat on a post near us and sang us his special song before flying off...

At the marsh...

The lilies are all in bloom and we saw lots of red winged black birds.

The marsh is getting very low. Usually there is more water in June....I guess we need more rain.

We found some small dragonfly nymphs
