First day of summer term...we were outside most of the day!

Our trees are in full bloom. This lilac is covered with hummingbird moths, swallowtail butterflies and bumble bees...and it smells so good.

We have been learning about Africa this week!

Checking the live Africam....this brought up a discussion on time zones as some of the children wondered why it was getting dark in Africa. We did get to see some elephants too.

Flowerpot made a Play Doh map of Africa.
Digger wanted to make more continent sand maps today.

Dino worked with the sandpaper letters and sand tray (actually its cornmeal in our sand tray). He really enjoyed watching how his mouth changed as he made each letter sound.

Digger started an addition booklet....he remarked, "hey, there's more than one way to make each number".
Peanut and Dino wanted to set the table nicely for snack this afternoon.

Dino on the trike...
Flowerpot doing a little fishing..

Jacob the dog is just one of the gang!

Looking to see if it was raining too hard to go outside for afternoon playtime....

We decided to go out as the rain was only a fine mist!

This puddle was so inviting...

What a cutie! Tank is spending Tuesdays visiting with us at Tree House. I bought him some squishy balls to push through the holes in the tower blocks. He loved his work!

Happy Birthday Dino! He was so eager to do his birthday walk today!

The peg board is a great pre-writing activity.....just love Flowerpot's intense concentration!
Digger arrived this morning and announced he wanted to do a report on rocks and volcanoes.....he went right to work looking at the volcano book and drawing volcanoes then we looked up the "ring of fire" on the world map...he presented his report to us this afternoon.

Sparkle working with the geometric solids....

Dino was so excited to do this work again today.

We worked in the vegetable garden today.....preparing beds for seeds, stirring the compost and planting pea seeds.

Planting bean seed work.
Owl helped to spread some compost on our pea bed. We are hoping to plant our pea seeds later this week.

The children made a puddle to float the boats.

Just to make the 100's board a little more challenging, Peanut built it upside down.

Little Man worked on a word tree.

Bean working with the collage tray.
